It was 2012.
I remember waking up in my studio flat and having this feeling of emptiness and lack of motivation. My life was average and I felt very disconnected from my environment, people around me, my career, myself. At the time I was living in Southampton, the UK.
I felt, lonely, miserable and lost. I remember looking around my tiny apartment full of clutter, books, clothes and feeling depressed. There was nothing exciting in my life and I couldn’t understand what was wrong.
However, looking back I know what was missing. My life had no purpose. Back then I didn’t feel like I was doing anything special, exciting, meaningful. My biggest problem was:
I REALLY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I WANT AND WHO I WAS.I had a long list of things I didn’t like and didn’t want, but I had no clue about what I wanted in my life.
I was already self-employed for about four years but my consulting career was coming to an end. So how did I get out of that funk?
There are five steps that I took which were the beginning of my journey of finding my life purpose and I would like to share them with you:
STEP#1 NOTICE WHAT’S NOT WORKING
I recognised that I was feeling uncomfortable and stuck.I had to be honest with myself that it is not serving me and something needs to change.
STEP#2 MOVE YOUR BODY
I had to get out of bed, move, do something productive, take care of myself and my body.
STEP#3 CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT
I needed to change my environment and the people around me. I’ve noticed that my lifestyle was not serving me at all.
STEP#4 TRY SOMETHING NEW THAT EXCITES YOU
I started a new project, my side hustle, that at the time excited me and brought joy into my life.
STEP#5 TRAVEL TO A DIFFERENT COUNTRY
I started to travel more, which opened up my mind and created some amazing opportunities. That allowed me to meet some very happy, successful and fulfilled people from all over the world. There is way more into the whole story of how I found my purpose and how I started my coaching, training and consulting business but for now, I want to leave you with these five steps so you can apply them immediately.
Before you go, please share with us:
1. Which step is the most helpful for you?
2. What’s stopping you from finding your purpose?
3. If you found your purpose already, share with us what it is and how did you find it.
With Infinite Love,
Sylvana
